A Patchwork Quilt for Gemma’s Baby Shower

I’m not sure I can sew a straight line mum

Oh it all comes flooding back to you once you relax into it

Wow! Look what i have made for my best mate Gemma’s baby

Today was a really weird day. It all started off with us over sleeping and Julia nearly missing her doctors appointment and it got more weird as the day went on. It is very u unusual for Julia and I to find time to be creative together but today we worked along side each other so well that within 3 hours we had made a floor quilt, a toy bag and a play cushion, all from a nursery rhyme panel that i had brought from Patchwork Corner many months ago and never managed to find time to make up. Julia did all the sewing together and I was quality control, making sure all the pieces went together and checking and cutting to size. When it was complete Julia went off to Matalan to buy some yellow and cream baby grows, booties and mitts to go with the quilt colours while i machine quilted it and finished the edges. We sent my mum off to Tudor rose patchwork shop to get a pillow pad and cord to use as a drawstring to the bag and by 6pm we were finished with everything complete and ready to pack in clear cellophane and yellow ribbons. I had a lovely time quilt making with my daughter. It was a special time that doesn’t happen very often.

Machine Embroidered Bowls and Vases

Hi girls and crafty men folk
Machine embroidered bowls and vases are coming up at Husqvarna Studios Nottingham next Monday the 16th April. If you havnt booked yet nows the time to get organised and book on. The studio is great because you dont need to drag in your sewing machine as they proivide good state of the art machines for you to sew on. You just have to bring the remaining requirements and yourself for a realy good day out.

Machine embroidered bowls and vases. A new look.

York Eye and Ocean Mermaid Doll

Hi
It’s been a while because i have been on my Easter holidays and have been walked off my feet round my favourite town, York.
Robert and I drove up for a quick visit and the weather was very kind to us. We had dry walking weather all weekend while it rained down at home. We stayed in our favourite hotel, The Royal York and had the added excitement of the York Eye being relocated to the hotels rather large ornate garden, SO it was one of those things you just had to fit in.

I hated it and now know that I will not be going on the London Eye which is much larger and taller than the York Eye. My best mate Carolyn will have to go on the London Eye as her 50th birthday treat with her daughter as I am a coward and can’t face it.

The shops were great to wonder round and of course I had to do some shopping. Who wouldn’t.

We hit home yesterday at tea time and I went straight in to finishing the Ocean mermaid doll needed for a class at Tudor Rose Patchwork shop in 6 weeks time. I was quite pleased with the result and have started a pink version too. I’m not a doll maker by nature but do really enjoy experimenting with a simple doll shape and embellishing to my hearts content. It works for me and that’s all that counts

Goldwork Poppies

I recently taught this Gold work project with 10 new ladies. The day always goes so fast and you don’t seem to have much to show for it at the end of it. None the less this project should keep them very busy for the next couple of weeks and hopefully they will have enjoyed it and book on to the next class.

Lutradur Panels

Well I’ve had a lovely day playing with the Lutradur that Kim gave me and I’m pleased with the results. I used a plain piece of paper as i didn’t think they would turn out as well as they did and adhered the Lutradur directly on to it using my trusty old soldering iron friend to make designs in to it. I then peeled off any Lutrador not required leaving what i did want adhered to the surface. I over laid flowers and leaves on top of this and made marks in to them to adhere them also. They were then further decorated with machine stitchery and this afternoon i spent a pleasant couple of hours hand sewing in to them and adding beads and sequins along with pre  made organza leaves and flowers from my organza workshop scrap box

No pics today but work was stitched

Today was taken up with going to the hospital so no pic today. But i did get some sewing done in the afternoon wher ei started to stitch into and embellish the Lutradur samples i did for Vilene and Kim Tititachi for the N E C workshop area. You will all have to wait until tomorror with antisipation for the pics to be taken and uploaded.
See you all tomorror   Bye

New kits for the NEC Birmingham

This kit sold so well that i am completely out of them. I think it was because it was quite versatile and could be a pendent, bag charm or a dangle to be hung off something. In comparison the fan kit didn’t do so well as i think people thought it might be to difficult.
Kathy Troup from stitch gave me back the sister fan which she had featured recently in Stitch so i had an unplanned delicate piece of work to try and pack up and get home with out crushing it. I did manage to keep it in one piece which is more than i did with the large wall fans. I caught one and broke the side panel so i now need an unscheduled afternoon to restore it back to health. Then i can put it back on the wall where it will be safe.

Nec stand

I had a lovley 5 days at the NEC Birmingham. It was lovley to see all the other textile people and catch up with what thay have been up to.
The new work i have been burning the midnight oil to get finished made it on to the wall by the skin of its teeth. I was still soldering it out the day before we left to set up. Its just as well i work well under pressure. The white walls were a nightmare to bang mounting pins and supports in to but all in all i was pleased with the effect of the stand as i never know how it is going to go up until i get to the show and start unloading.

Today is the day i have been very brave and decided that i need a blog page to write down my thoughts and share my inspirations. This is the new rose bud curl kit i designed for the Fashion and embroidery show recently held at the N E C Birmingham. Watch this space as it soon multiplied and became a quilt coverlet.
